US Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg tells Egyptians: Don’t look to the “OLD US Constitution” for guidance in drafting a new constitution. Justice Ginsburg holds in high esteem the  constitution of South Africa and Canada.

So, Patriots, as you vet candidates, work on campaigns for House, Senate, Presidential, and local offices,  I encourage you to pay close attention to those in the judicial branch.

The judicial branch of government is the most overlooked segment of our elections. I remember in 2010, numerous individuals wrote me, down to the wire, on the General Election because they had completely forgotten about judges on the ballots. Many had no idea whom they should or shouldn’t support. How many judges won by default? How many were voted on and approved by well intentioned individuals that really had no clue about the Judge on the ballot?

We must ensure that this year is truly the year of the Tea Party. How do we do that? We pay attention, we vet candidates in all branches, we ask questions, seek truthful information, and make informed decisions. Don’t wait to the last minute to realize you haven’t considered the judicial branch in the upcoming elections.

2012, the Year of the Tea Party!

I ended the day concluding that Donald Trump helped “wag the dog.” Allow me to explain.

Thursday’s much-anticipated House Oversight Committee hearings saw Attorney General Eric Holder face intense questioning over the “Fast And Furious” gun-running disaster and his knowledge as events unfolded. “Fast And Furious” is one of the worst episodes of law enforcement in recent memory, with hundreds dead including a U.S Border Patrol agent at the hands of Justice Department supplied weapons.

The hearing took place under the threat of “contempt of Congress” charges from Chairman Issa because Holder refused to cooperate with the investigation. On top of this, a new story broke indicating that Holder looked the other way when DOJ agents were caught accepting bribes. Everything seemed primed for Holder to finally face some accountability. But then something else happened that Drudge thought warranted dedicating everything “above the fold” on his website to it for much of the day. What was that story?

Nowhere on Drudge could be found even a mention of the Holder hearings that were under way. As the noon hour approached, I was confident that Rush Limbaugh would pick up the Holder hearings. While I didn’t hear all three hours of Rush’s show, Rush clearly had other topics on his mind. His website today features no stories on the Holder hearings.

Of course, the liberal media are giving Holder a free pass. It’s so bad that much of the reporting I saw focused on Holder’s insistence that he “knew nothing” and emphasized the harsh treatment he received from members or Congress.

+ + How Trump Helped “Wag The Dog”

Perhaps it was all coincidental, but the timing of Trump’s annoucement served to “wag the dog” for the day’s news cycle. The website UsingEnglish.com says “wag the dog” means “to purposely divert attention from what would otherwise be of greater importance.”  The expression comes from “the saying that ‘a dog is smarter than its tail’, but if the tail were smarter, then the tail would ‘wag the dog’.” The tail (Trump’s announcement) wagged the dog (Obama/Holder scandal).

In response, I’m issuing a challenge . It’s two-fold.

Challenge #1 — Overcome the (conservative and liberal) media’s blackout on “Fast And Furious” and spend some time reading up on this issue. Liberty News has posted what I believe is one of the most thorough overviews of yesterday’s hearings and the “Fast And Furious” fiasco. Challenge #2 — After reading up on “Fast And Furious,” if you are outraged by what has happened and the lack of accountability in the Department of Justice, then sign Grassfire Nation’s “Holder Must Go” petition by going here.

  2011 has proven to be a very difficult year for so many. Between     the financial challenges for many, the jobless, homeless, and the government, I am glad to see 2011 come to an end. What we need right now is a little bit of Christmas!

Christmas is about love, hope, reflection, and family. The new year will follow and will have its own challenges. I thought it would be nice to have a What I want for Christmas is… and have patriots fill in the blank.

It can be material things, a job, a new President, time with family, a new rep, a vacation, etc…

The United States presidential election of 2012 is the next United States presidential election, to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. It will be the 57th quadrennial presidential election in which presidential electors, who will actually elect the President and the Vice President of the United States on December 17, 2012, will be chosen. Barack Obama, who is eligible for a second and final term as President, has announced that he will seek nomination to be the Democratic Party‘s candidate in this election.^[1]

The 2012 presidential election will coincide with the United States Senate elections where 33 races will be occurring as well as the United States House of Representatives elections to elect the members for the 113th Congress. The election will also encompass eleven gubernatorial races as well as many state legislature races.

Understanding the Electoral College

The Electoral College consists of the electors appointed by each state who formally elect the President and Vice President of the United States. Since 1964, there have been 538 electors in each presidential election.^[1] Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution specifies how many electors each state is entitled to have and that each state’s legislature decides how its electors are to be chosen. U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College. The Electoral College is an example of an indirect election, as opposed to a direct election by United States citizens.

The voters of each state, and the District of Columbia, vote for electors to be the authorized constitutional participants in a presidential election. In early U.S. history, some state laws delegated the choice of electors to the state legislature. Electors are free to vote for anyone eligible to be President, but in practice pledge to vote for specific candidates and voters cast ballots for favored presidential and vice presidential candidates by voting for correspondingly pledged electors.^[2][3]

Background on Electoral College

At the Constitutional Convention, the delegates used the Virginia Plan as the basis for discussions, as the Virginia delegation had proposed it first. The Virginia Plan called for the Executive to be elected by the Legislature.^[6] Delegates from a majority of states agreed to this mode of election.^[7] However, the Committee of Eleven, formed to work out various details including the mode of election of the President, recommended instead that the election be by a group of people apportioned among the states in the same numbers as their representatives in Congress (the formula for which had been resolved in lengthy debates resulting in the Connecticut Compromise and Three-fifths compromise), but chosen by each state “in such manner as its Legislature may direct.” Committee member Gouverneur Morris explained the reasons for the change; among others, there were fears of “intrigue” if the President was chosen by a small group of men who met together regularly, as well as concerns for the independence of the President if he was elected by the Congress.^[8] Some delegates, including James Wilson and James Madison, preferred popular election of the executive. Madison acknowledged that while a popular vote would be ideal, it would be difficult to get consensus on the proposal given the prevalence of slavery in the South:^[9]

“There was one difficulty however of a serious nature attending an immediate choice by the people. The right of suffrage was much more diffusive in the Northern than the Southern States; and the latter could have no influence in the election on the score of Negroes. The substitution of electors obviated this difficulty and seemed on the whole to be liable to the fewest objections.”

The Convention approved the Committee’s Electoral College proposal, with minor modifications, on September 6, 1787.^[10] Delegates from the small states generally favored the Electoral College out of concern that the large states would otherwise control presidential elections.^[11]

Senators: VA has denied gun rights to more than 100,000 veterans

I first heard of this group back in July, when they held a protest against the NAACP .

Jesse Lee Peterson, conservative talk show host and founder of BOND Action.  His bio states this:

Rev. Lee Peterson is the most courageous, outspoken critic of the liberal left and the so-called “black leadership” in America today. Often referred to as the “antidote to Jesse Jackson”, Jesse Peterson is also the man behind the National Boycott of the NAACP, believing the organization to be nothing more than a tool of the “elite, socialist” elements of the Democratic Party.

IF live in or near the area and want to get active with the Tea Party. This would be one to get involved in.

After scattered popular demonstrations around the world, protesters are planning the next step: This time, it’s a global movement for change, set to kick off Saturday, Oct. 15.

But what exactly is “United for Global Change”? Its exact goals are a little vague, though uprising seems to be the key:

“Intolerable situation — corrupt system — global outrage. Tunisia, Egypt, Spain, Greece, Chile, Israel, India, USA. It’s time for us to unite. It’s time for them to listen. People of the world, rise up!” a video for the movement says.

From America to Asia, from Africa to Europe, people are rising up to claim their rights and demand a true democracy. Now it is time for all of us to join in a global non violent protest.

The ruling powers work for the benefit of just a few, ignoring the will of the vast majority and the human and environmental price we all have to pay. This intolerable situation must end.

United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they serve, know it is up to us, the people, to decide our future. We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers who do not represent us.

On October 15th, we will meet on the streets to initiate the global change we want. We will peacefully demonstrate, talk and organize until we make it happen.

It’s time for us to unite. It’s time for them to listen.

CALL FOR SYNCRONISATION OF MOBILISATIONS TOWARDS 15 OCTOBER 2011

OPEN LETTER TO TRADE UNION MOVEMENT, PROGRESSIVE NGOS AND OTHERS FORCES IN EUROPE AND
ELSEWHERE

Dear friends, comrades,

Thousands of angry, indignant people who come from different walks of life and who stayed 
silent for a long time against the injustice had enough now. They decided to rise up 
against the elite rule.

Despite effective corporate media blocake on 17 September, Wall Street Occupation and 
other important actions and occupations in Europe -Paris Bastille & London- and other 
continents that were organised by indignant movement proved the potential of self 
organised ordinary people. On the same date in Wroclaw Poland, European trade union 
movement mobilised to protest the gathering of the EU finance ministers. Unfortunately 
the power of the elite media could manage silence these mobilisations and this decreased 
the total impact of both mobilisations.

The indignant ones now are united and heading towards capital cities like Brussels, 
London and Washington, to peacefully occupy public spaces around the date 15 October, 
they call it the day of global change, World Revolution.

The target is, as usual after Tahrir, not only protesting unjustified and criminal acts 
of state and corporate financial dictatorship, the ?elite? behind those institutions, and 
their class warfare towards the poor and ordinary people. It is also targeted to build 
permanent structures and assemblies which will constantly and transnationally collaborate 
with each other in formulating people?s alternatives to the unjust, undemocratic, 
destructive and selfish elite rule.

At this moment in history, we urgently need trade union movement and progressive NGOs to 
step up, synchronise mobilisations as ATTAC and Italian network for the WSF have done, 
and support in any way the rising movemen, without trying to own or lead such uprising 
which belongs to none of us, but each one of us!

Please encourage your union centres, branches, officials, experts, reps, rank and file 
members, or funders, networks, activists to give all possible support to the indignant 
movement towards 15 October in Europe, in US and elsewhere.

Join the movement if you can, organise your mobilisation, occupy financial centres, 
cities of capital together with other indignants! Be one of them, be part of one of the 
people?s assemblies. Lets write our own laws and by-pass the elitist structures.

If we could convince our comrades particularly involved in public service unions who 
could help us to provide free transportation for the indignants who want to join protests 
and Tahrir like democracy camps, only this would be a great contribution for a better 
future for all!

Please join forces for real democracy, now! Do not let corporate or state elite silence 
us any more!

It is time to raise our voice. Our future is at stake, and nothing can hold back the power of millions of people when they unite for a common goal.

Democracia real YA is a platform that originated in Spain to coordinate various civil mobilization groups. Under the slogan “We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers”, thousands of people took to the streets on May 15th to demand a more participatory democracy, to reject corruption in Spain’s political system, and to show our opposition to the austerity measures imposed on us.

Following the success of that first demonstration, several movements emerged. Acampadas (tent cities) were set up in central squares across the country, much like the first occupation of Tahrir Square in Cairo.
The acampadas gave rise to popular assemblies, where citizens shape their goals through an inclusive non-hierarchal decision making process. The May 15 movement soon expanded beyond Spanish borders and inspired actions in numerous cities around the world, including a mass demonstration against the Euro Pact last June 19th.

Pressured by financial powers, our political leaders work for the benefit of just a few, regardless of the social, human or environmental cost this may cause. By promoting wars for profit and impoverishing whole populations, our ruling classes are depriving us of our right to a free and just society.
